Job summary

The City of Irving Police Department seeks a Property Evidence/Records Clerk to support locating and seizing stolen property, logging evidence, and processing through the Irving Municipal Court to establish ownership. The role includes auditing pawn shops for compliance and maintaining transaction records in databases.

Responsibilities include researching serial numbers across law enforcement databases, assisting in homicide case files, and transporting SANE evidence kits when needed.

Qualifications

• Clerical and customer service experience are beneficial.
• Must have or be able to obtain NCIC certification and Texas driver’s license.
• Duties may require lifting up to 50 pounds and access to CJIS.
• Candidates will be subject to polygraph exam and criminal history check.
• Must not have a Class B misdemeanor in past 10 years; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Locate and seize stolen property; log evidence into the property room.
• Process through Irving Municipal Court to establish ownership.
• Inspect pawn shops and regulated stores for compliance with statutes.
• Retrieve copies of store transactions and maintain in database.
• Research and run property transaction serial numbers through databases.
• Disseminate property evidence information to investigators and testify in court property hearings.
• Transport SANE evidence kits to forensic labs when necessary; assist in homicide case files.
• Oversee false alarm reduction program; handle appeals and resident/business concerns.
