The City of DeKalb is looking to hire a part-time, Evidence Custodian.
The Evidence Custodian is a non-sworn, part-time civilian member of the Police Department and provides a variety of non-emergency services to the community that do not require physical arrest or relate to a crime in progress. The Evidence Custodian performs manual and clerical work in the receipt, storage and release of found, stolen and confiscated property and evidence impounded by the Police Department or other law enforcement agencies. This position will require a high level of discretion, the ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to new technologies and work under minimal supervision.
This position will work 15- 20 hours per week. The starting rate is $25.34 per hour. The full salary range is $25.34-$39.07 per hour. The position does not qualify for benefits.
Requirements
- Previous law enforcement experience preferred. Prior experience in investigations or in evidence strongly desired.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Previous coursework in criminal justice, forensic science or related field preferred.
-Property & Evidence Management certification preferred.
-Valid driver’s license.
-Ability to become LEADS certified within 6 months of hire.
