The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) brings together philanthropy including the IKEA Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation and the Bezos Earth Fund, governments, technology, policy and development partners, and the private sector to tackle the twin challenges of energy access and transition in emerging and developing countries. By 2030, we aim to expand clean energy access to one billion people, enable 150 million new jobs and reduce 4 gigatons of future carbon emissions. We believe clean energy is development: without it, every other form of progress is undermined so we’re building a movement to unlock a new era of inclusive green economic growth that accelerates universal energy access while enabling the global community to meet critical climate goals during the next decade.

BACKGROUND

In 2025, GEAPP launched a dedicated Partnerships & Philantrophy Division to expand and diversify our funding base. We are pioneering new fundraising pathways, engaging nontraditional funders, and building deep, trust-based partnerships to mobilize resources and drive systemic impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

To help advance this mission, GEAPP is seeking an experienced Events & Program Manager to lead on the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact events that showcase our work, engage stakeholders, and advance organization priorities . As a key member of GEAPP’s newest division, the Partnerships & Philanthropy team, the Events & Program Manager will be the first of their kind and have a unique opportunity to shape how GEAPP designs and delivers events. C ollaborat ion is crucial and this individual will thrive working across the organization, supporting Senior colleagues in the strategic conceptualization of events whilst partnering with communication, fundraising and technical program teams to create meaningful and memorable engagement experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive events strategy aligned with GEAPP's goals and funder engagement priorities.
  • Project Manage the full event lifecycle—from concept development and budgeting through execution and post-event analysis—ensuring seamless delivery and alignment with organizational objectives. Create a best practice here that can become our organizational standard.
  • Create, update and socialize a diverse events calendar ensuring teams have awareness and visibility of upcoming events. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary inputs in advance, ensuring content is tailored to the event’s aims.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams to support participation in major platform events (United Nations General Assembly, NY Climate Action Week, Paris Peace Forum, COP), plan and execute funder roundtables, cultivation dinners, conference participation, fundraising receptions, and virtual engagements.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to design events that highlight GEAPP's global impact while reflecting local contexts and partnerships.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, to ensure appropriate representation and messaging at all events.

Funder Experience & Relationship Building

  • Create memorable, customized event experiences that deepen funder relationships and showcase GEAPP's work and impact.
  • Coordinate with communications and program teams on development of promotional content, event materials, presentations, and leave-behinds.
  • Coordinate with partnerships, fundraising, and program teams to identify and leverage strategic convening moments (e.g., UN General Assembly, COP, World Bank meetings) to maximize engagement with priority stakeholders.
  • Track and analyze event participation and follow-up to ensure effective relationship management and cultivation.
  • Support relevant Partnership & Philanthropy team priorities related to donor engagement.
  • Manage all aspects of event logistics including venue selection, catering, technical requirements, travel arrangements, and on-site coordination.
  • Source, build and maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring high-quality delivery while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with communications to develop comprehensive run-of-show documents, briefing materials, and talking points for staff and leadership.
  • Maintain a detailed events calendar and ensure appropriate resource allocation across multiple simultaneous planning cycles.
  • Ensure events adhere to GEAPP's brand standards and sustainability commitments.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in event planning and management, preferably in a nonprofit, philanthropy, or international organization context.
  • Proven track record of conceptualizing and executing successful donor-focused or high-level stakeholder events.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple events simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience managing event budgets and vendor relationships effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to interact professionally with high-level donors and executives.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural settings and coordinating international events is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with climate, energy access, or international development sectors is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work flexible hours as needed for event execution.
  • Proficiency with event management platforms and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position with an annualized starting salary of $120,000-$135,000, commensurate with experience. GEAPP provides a comprehensive benefits package including a robust paid time off plan of 28 days annual leave in addition to org-wide end-of-year-office closure, 401(k) retirement plan with 10% employer contribution, $1,000 annually for work-from-home expenses and $100 monthly for use for transit.

This position could be based in our NYC or DC office. GEAPP prides itself on being a flexible employer and employees typically operate on a hybrid schedule that typically includes 2 days in office per week.
