The Preservation Society of Charleston is seeking an Events Coordinator to support planning and execution of member‑exclusive events, public programs, tours, and volunteer opportunities in Charleston.
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Learning, the role coordinates logistics, assists attendees, manages registrations, captures event content, and works with Communications and Advancement teams to document and share materials for marketing and publications.
The Preservation Society of Charleston (PSC) is a member-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the historic character, quality of life, and cultural heritage of Charleston and its surrounding areas. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, the Preservation Society serves as a trusted preservation resource for residents and visitors alike. A dynamic calendar of member-exclusive events, public programs, tours, workshops, and volunteer opportunities is central to fulfilling this mission. The Events Coordinator supports the planning and execution of these experiences, helping create meaningful opportunities for people to connect with Charleston's history and the work of historic preservation.
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Learning, this position plays a key role in delivering exceptional experiences by coordinating event logistics, assisting attendees, managing registrations, and supporting event operations before, during, and after programs. In addition, this position provides field support to the Communications and Advancement teams by capturing photos and gathering content during events and programs, ensuring timely documentation and sharing of materials for use in marketing, publications, and social media.
The position requires the ability to move throughout event spaces, often outdoors and at historic properties, for extended periods; frequently bend, lift up to 40–50 lbs.; and visually monitor event sites. The role balances active, physical demands during events with periods of computer‑based planning and administrative work.
A personal vehicle is required for this position, as travel between event sites throughout the Charleston area is frequently necessary. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved work‑related travel in accordance with the Preservation Society's reimbursement policy.
Full time, Exempt. Irregular hours are required, including some evenings and weekends for events.
$44,000-$47,000, commensurate with experience
