Job summary

Cleveland Metroparks seeks a Special Events & Catering Coordinator to lead planning, coordination, and execution of high-quality events at the Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center and other locations.

You will work closely with culinary, service, and operations teams, overseeing event sales, client communication, staffing, logistics, and on-site execution to ensure exceptional hospitality and guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in hospitality management or related field with 2+ years’ event planning experience.
• Willingness to obtain TIPS Alcohol, ServSafe, and First Aid/CPR within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license and strong knowledge of food service operations and event logistics.

Responsibilities

• Lead for banquets and special events; meet clients, sell space, prepare proposals and contracts, coordinate details.
• Oversee scheduling, workflow, equipment, supplies, menus, and event execution.
• Partner with Catering Chef and GM to design and price client-tailored menus.
• Oversee hiring, training, and development of catering staff (servers, bartenders, attendants).
• Ensure client needs, budgets, and internal communications are managed effectively.
• Manage event budgets and revenue controls; place orders; maintain inventory; work with vendors.
• Support restaurant and concession operations; travel throughout the park district as needed.
