Job summary

Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles is seeking Traffic Directors to ensure guest safety and smooth movement during peak events. You’ll direct crosswalks, manage queues, and maintain clear emergency routes, creating a positive first impression from curb to galleries.

Role requires calm, professional communication in a fast-paced outdoor setting; you’ll work evenings, weekends, and holidays with paid hourly compensation and opportunities for growth within the events team.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 or older.
• Valid driver’s license (only if driving company/client vehicles).
• Alert and attentive in crowds and heavy traffic.
• Able to follow post orders, maps, signs, and radio instructions.
• Clear, professional communicator.
• Able to give firm, concise directions.
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule — evenings, weekends, holidays, and late shifts.
• Reliable transportation to sites across Greater Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

• Direct vehicles and pedestrians at crosswalks, entrances, exits, and internal roadways using approved hand signals, wands, and radios.
• Manage vehicle queues, temporary holds, lane merges, and overflow routing to prevent gridlock during event rushes.
• Rotate between vehicle-control posts and pedestrian zones as operational needs shift.
