Job summary

Oak View Group (OVG) seeks a Competitive Meet Technician to assist Meet Tech Staff with event setup and tear-down for events at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The role involves operating timing and judging equipment and ensuring accuracy of results. The position is part-time with an hourly rate of $15.00 to $17.00.

Hours include evenings, weekends, and event days as needed. 401(k) savings and matching are provided. The job remains open until November 6, 2026.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience supporting athletic events, competitions, event operations, or technical equipment is preferred but not required.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and operate event timing and scoring systems.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and accurately complete assigned tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced event environment.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days as needed.
• Ability to lift, move, and transport event equipment as required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, athletes, officials, and guests.
• Ability to remain focused and organized during live events where timing and accuracy is critical.

Responsibilities

• Assist Meet Tech Staff with event setup, including placement and preparation of timing systems, judging equipment, and other event-related materials.
• Support the operation and monitoring of timing and judging equipment during competitive events to ensure accurate event results.
• Assist with event tear-down, including the removal, organization, and storage of equipment following competitions.
• Perform equipment checks before, during, and after events to ensure systems are functioning properly and report any issues to appropriate staff.
• Provide operational support to Meet Tech Staff and event personnel throughout competitions.
• Assist with troubleshooting basic equipment or technical issues and communicate concerns to supervisors as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe event environment while following facility and event-specific procedures.
• Ensure equipment is handled carefully and stored properly to support future events.
• Provide support during a variety of competitions, including setup, event operations, and post-event breakdown activities.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
