Job summary

Third Street Music School Settlement is seeking an on-call Event Staff to support performances, recitals, and community events. Under the Assistant Director of Production, you will help with setup, breakdown, audience seating, and front-of-house tasks for on-site and off-site programs.

Shifts are booked in advance as needed, with seasonal peaks in May/June and December. Compensation includes opportunities to serve as live sound engineer, lighting designer, or recording tech based on experience,

Qualifications

• Experience in live event support and production roles.
• Ability to lift and setup event equipment.
• Familiarity with AV recording equipment preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certified preferred, training available.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and breakdown for performances, rehearsals, rentals, and school events.
• Implement stage changes efficiently during performances, rehearsals, and soundchecks while following production schedules.
• Transport equipment for performances (on-site and off-site).
• Assist with routine room setup and breakdown for school activities, meetings, rehearsals, and events.
• Support front-of-house operations for select events, including greeting patrons and directing audience members.
• Work with production staff, faculty, visiting artists, and admin to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform other event, production, and facility duties as assigned.
• Serve as live sound engineer or lighting designer as assigned; compensation determined per shift.

SCHEDULE

Shifts are on an "on-call" basis, typically with at least 1 months’ notice, contingent on Event Staff availability.Overhires receive a minimum of four hours of pay per assignment.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Production, the Event Staff supports student and community performances and events at Third Street Music School, including Cornerstone performances, recitals, master classes, and other public events. These events take place at both on-site and off-site performances.

This is an on-call position with shifts assigned in advance as needed. Event volume is seasonal, with peak activity in May/June and December, occasional events from September through April, and limited scheduling needs in July and August.

Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis.

DUTIES

• Assist with setup and breakdown for performances, rehearsals, rentals, and school events, including audience seating, music stands, chairs, instruments, cable runs, audio/lighting/video equipment, and other event-related materials.
• Implement stage changes efficiently during performances, rehearsals, and soundchecks while following production schedules and stage plots.
• Transport equipment such as musical instruments, stage equipment, audio and lighting gear, and microphones for performances (both on-site and off-site)
• Assist with routine room setup and breakdown for school activities, classes, meetings, rehearsals, and special events.
• Support front-of-house operations for select events, including greeting patrons, distributing or scanning programs, scanning tickets, directing audience members, and helping maintain a welcoming event environment.
• Work collaboratively with production staff, faculty, visiting artists, and administrative staff to ensure smooth event operations.
• Perform other event, production, and facility-related duties as assigned.
• Serve as a live sound engineer, recording studio engineer, or lighting designer for events as assigned by supervisor and based on experience/qualifications. Compensation for these specialized assignments will be determined at the time of shift assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Relevant experience in live event support, production, stagehand work, front-of-house, audio, lighting, recording, or related roles.
• Physical ability and stamina to perform all functions of the job, including: the ability to lift, climb ladders, and to setup and breakdown objects required for each event.
• Adaptable, comfortable in high-pressure situations, solution and detail oriented, eager to learn and develop skills.
• Basic knowledge of audiovisual recording equipment and best practices.
• Experience with traditional orchestra and backline equipment.
• This position will be exposed to amplified sound and theatrical lighting during performances.
• Familiarity with ETC lighting consoles, live audio systems, and PTZ camera systems a plus. Hands‑on training available.
• First Aid and CPR certified preferred, training available.
• Interest in performing arts and arts education.
