Job summary

The Woodruff Arts Center is seeking a part-time team member to support Facilities Operations and Event Services across campus. The role reports to the Director of Facilities Operations and the Event Operations Manager based on campus needs and events.

This position requires flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends; a high school diploma or GED; valid Georgia driver’s license; and basic proficiency with Workday, Windows, and Excel.

Job description

Woodruff Arts Center employees play an integral role in creating and supporting great art and education initiatives at the nation’s third largest arts center. Comprised of three Art Partners-Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art-there’s a role for everyone at The Woodruff.

Reports to: Director of Facilities Operations

FLSA: United States of America (Non-Exempt)

Employment Status: Regular/Part time

This position supports both Facilities Operations and Event Services. The role is allocated approximately 50% to Facilities Operations and 50% to Event Services, with schedules and priorities coordinated by the Director of Facilities Operations and the Event Operations Manager based on campus needs and event schedules.

The Facilities Operations team supports routine maintenance, repairs, material transport, deliveries, and mail services across campus. For facilities-related duties, this position reports to the Director of Facilities Operations.

The Event Services team supports the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, furniture, and other equipment for internal and external campus events. For event-related duties, this position reports to the Event Operations Manager.

WORK SCHEDULE

Regular full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. Evening and weekend availability is required based on business and event needs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include the following:
  • Facilities Operations Perform routine maintenance and repairs in interior and exterior campus areas. Duties may include changing light bulbs, repairing door hardware, patching drywall, painting non-gallery areas, light fountain maintenance, and other similar tasks. Perform material handling and mail delivery duties, including sending and receiving packages and materials, sorting deliveries, operating postage equipment, and delivering mail throughout campus. Maintain and organize facilities, storage areas, and loading dock areas.
  • Events Services Set up and break down tables, chairs, and other equipment for internal and external campus events. Set up event furniture according to floor plans provided by the Events Department. Maintain and organize furniture storage areas. Maintain an accurate inventory of event furniture and equipment. Audit furniture inventory and report damaged items or needed repairs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Construction, maintenance, facilities, or related experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

Valid Georgia driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe, required.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Basic proficiency with Workday, Microsoft Windows, Excel, and email systems preferred.
  • Ability to follow safety and security procedures and work collaboratively with colleagues across departments.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, stay organized, and manage details effectively.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 40 to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation; climb ladders; and operate hydraulic lifts as needed.
  • Ability to work safely at heights with or without reasonable accommodation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with Arts Center staff, visitors, vendors, and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to prepare basic information or reports as needed.

REASONING ABILITIES

Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, diagram-based, and schedule-based instructions. Ability to solve routine problems, prioritize tasks, and respond to changing needs.
