Overview

Izzy's Steakhouse is seeking a results-driven Events Sales Manager to lead all aspects of private event and banquet sales - from prospecting and booking through detailed pre-event planning. This role owns the sales and planning lifecycle: generating new business, building lasting client relationships, crafting proposals and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and partnering with the culinary and service teams so each event is fully set up for success, with on-site execution handed off to the event/banquet captain and service team. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and can balance high-level sales strategy with detail-oriented event planning.

Key Responsibilities
Event Sales & Business Development
  • Respond promptly to event inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to corporate, social, and community clients to generate new business, including cold-calling and following up on leads and past customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with repeat and prospective clients.
  • Achieve quarterly activity goals and established sales targets set with the GM and ownership.
  • Develop and maintain an accurately priced sheet of all billable event products and services, reflecting current costs and profitability goals.
  • Identify opportunities to up-sell and offer enhancements throughout the event process to maximize revenue; assist with revenue forecasting for assigned events.
Proposals, Contracts & Event Planning
  • Develop proposals, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) for each booking.
  • Document final arrangements with clients on function sheets/BEOs, capturing guest count, schedule of events, menu, and special requests.
  • Work closely with the chef and management team to design menus and packages that meet client needs and restaurant goals.
  • Regularly review upcoming BEOs to confirm guest needs and expectations, and finalize event changes and guarantees.
  • Maintain an updated events calendar and track all bookings.
Event Logistics & Pre-Event Coordination
  • Coordinate event logistics including timing, room setup, AV needs, décor, and special requests.
  • Communicate event details clearly to department heads and service staff ahead of each function.
  • Inspect the event space prior to each function to confirm table setup, menu, and staffing align with the BEO.
  • Brief the assigned event/banquet captain on all event details so they can manage greeting the client and overseeing execution on-site.
  • Ensure each function is set up to run smoothly, efficiently, and profitably while meeting all guest and contract requirements.
  • Act as liaison between sales, property departments, and the client during the booking and planning process, ensuring a seamless turnover from sales to service and back to sales.
  • Conduct formal pre- and post-event meetings (e.g., BEO meetings, block reviews) as needed to align department heads on group needs and gather feedback.
Customer Experience
  • Deliver excellent customer service throughout the pre-event planning and post-event follow-up phases, ensuring the client feels supported at every step.
  • Solicit and integrate guest and internal department feedback to continuously improve event service and operations.
Financial & Administrative Follow-Through
  • Ensure deposits, payments, and invoicing are processed accurately and on time.
  • Review bills with clients prior to finalizing to confirm accuracy.
  • Prepare and deliver an accurate final bill to the client at the completion of each function; collect payment or confirm alternate terms.
  • Monitor event profitability and contribute to cost-control efforts.
  • Maintain accurate event records, function sheets, and reporting in an organized, timely manner.
  • Provide post-event follow-up to ensure client satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
Marketing Support for Events
  • Partner with the GM on marketing initiatives that drive event bookings, including email campaigns and seasonal promotions via SevenRooms and OpenTable.
  • Ensure event-related listings remain accurate and up to date across third-party platforms (Google, Yelp, Apple Maps, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Support social media and collateral efforts tied to private events and banquets, working alongside external creative partners and the GM.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years of experience in event management or a related field, OR a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, or Business Administration with at least 1 year of relevant experience; 3-5+ years preferred for candidates without a degree.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals through proactive outreach and relationship building.
  • In-depth knowledge of banquet/event service standards and room setup.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and public-contact skills.
  • Basic math skills to prepare and process event billing and gratuity allocations.
  • Ability to supervise and train banquet captains and service staff.
  • Familiarity with restaurant/hospitality platforms such as TripleSeat, Toast, SevenRooms, OpenTable, MarginEdge, and 7Shifts is a plus.
  • Able to analyze expenses and manage to budgetary guidelines.
  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for client meetings and site visits.
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
