Job summary

The Michaels Companies is seeking a Part Time Party & Event Host at our Ann Arbor store. You will plan and coordinate events, including kids' birthday parties, to deliver a fun, engaging experience for guests.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent people skills.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Retail or customer service experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events (including kids’ birthday parties) within the Michaels store.
• Engage with clients of all ages, create a fun, creative environment, and demonstrate or instruct craft projects.
• Facilitate party add-ons (goody bags, balloons) and communicate events to clients and staff.
• Handle administrative tasks (emails, calls, paperwork) and adjust plans based on feedback.
• Set up, run, and break down events while maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards.
• Support customer experience with shopping assistance, checkout, and rewards program enrollments.
