Job summary

The University of Illinois Springfield seeks a Custodial/Facilities Assistant to support event setups, moving services, and cleaning across campus. You will perform a variety of tasks from setup and teardown to equipment handling and surplus processing, under supervision.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, valid IL driver’s license preferred, and ability to drive a 16’ box truck and operate a forklift certification. This on-site role offers benefits and steady hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license preferred.
• Ability to drive a 16’ box truck and operate forklift certification preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform custodial tasks.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders for campus events, set-ups, tear-downs, and cleaning tasks.
• Manage equipment and surplus processes, including inventory lists.
• Provide moving and janitorial services for renovations and campus projects.
• Assist with recycling and waste removal and report repair needs.
• Operate cleaning equipment and ensure safe, clean facilities.
• Report safety or maintenance issues to supervisor.
