Job summary

Reed Inc. on the Portland campus is seeking a Warehouse/Custodial Associate to support events and keep spaces clean. You will transport equipment, operate a College van/truck, and provide custodial coverage as needed across residence halls and buildings.

You will join a safety-first team with a Monday–Friday 1:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m. swing shift, aligned with SEIU Local Union No. 49. Dependability and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Six months directly related custodial or cleaning experience.
• Active driver's license is required.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and perform physical tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Set up and take down equipment and seating for campus events.
• Provide warehouse logistics support, including driving a forklift or pallet jack.
• Receive, organize, track, load, transport, and distribute equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Assist with cleaning assigned buildings, dusting, vacuuming, bathrooms and kitchens, restocking supplies.
• Collect trash and recycling from assigned areas.
• Perform floor cleaning tasks and maintenance.
• Collaborate with the shift team to meet goals and cover for others.
• Report safety hazards and follow safety procedures.

Job description

This position is responsible for working in the campus warehouse, transporting equipment, furniture, and supplies using a College van or truck to support the setup and teardown of campus events and the cleaning of campus spaces. The position also provides custodial coverage, as needed, in residence halls, academic buildings, and administrative buildings. This is a swing shift position reporting to the Building Service Manager as primary, with support from the Swing Shift Supervisor.

Employees are expected to work within their individual lifting capacity and to utilize safe work practices, including team lifts or task redistribution, when necessary.

Compensation and Schedule

• Pay: Starting rate of $20.69 plus $1.00 per hour for Truck designation, in addition to the $0.75 swing shift differential.
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 10:00p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid meal period.

What You’ll Do

• Perform set-up and take-downs of equipment and seating for events.
• Provide warehouse logistical support, up to and include driving a forklift, pallet jack, and other applicable tools.
• Perform warehouse inventory and delivery duties, including receiving, organizing, tracking, loading, transporting, and distributing equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Provides support as needed in cleaning assigned buildings on campus, including dusting, wiping, and vacuuming of all offices and rooms. Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchen areas. Restock supplies.
• Collect all the trash and recycling from assigned areas.
• Perform a wide variety of floor cleaning tasks, such as vacuuming, spot cleaning and shampooing carpets, damp mopping, stripping and refinishing floors and deep cleaning.
• Collaborate and assist the team in shift goals including filling in for others while they are away.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs.
• Be an advocate for safety. Follow all safety procedures and make sure that others do, too. Report any unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
• Perform some group projects, such as team cleans or team maintenance.
• With the shift team, occasionally move office furniture.
