Job description

Salary: $21.00 per hour

City Cruises is seeking an Event Manager for our operation in Long Beach.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The position of Event Manager on board a yacht is responsible for ensuring the overall guest experience on all public cruises and private charters. Successful candidates will possess the ability to stay calm and composed in a fast-paced environment and display the willingness to be a team player, handling bar duties and assisting with vessel preparation and closure. Days, evenings, and weekend shifts are available.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Review events at the beginning of the work week for discrepancies, conflicts, or questions. Communicate any issues.
  2. Review contract with lead chef and sales manager (when available).
  3. Prepare diagrams based on guest count, client needs, and staffing level.
  4. Gather additional items needed for the event (beverages, supplies, paperwork, etc.).
  5. Be on board the yacht at the scheduled time for crew, ready to start the pre-shift meeting.
  6. Supervise and manage crew while on HCE premises.
  7. Review all contract details with crew and set expectations for the event. Be clear and concise.
  8. Assign and direct crew in their responsibilities, including sidework, resets, and cleaning of F&B areas.
  9. Monitor and evaluate all food, beverage, and service quality during the event.
  10. Take corrective action to ensure a successful function.
  11. Support onboard Operations staff with safety requirements and communicate essential event information.
  12. Complete Senior Deckhand training, including vessel operations, fire safety, CPR/AED, line handling, and First Aid.
  13. Perform a full walkthrough of the vessel after each event to ensure all areas are in "Show-Ready" condition.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Minimum 6 months food service supervisory experience preferred.
  2. Minimum 6 months hospitality experience, with knowledge of food, wine, and spirits.
  3. Be at least 21 years old.
  4. Food Handler Certification required; TIPS certification desirable.
  5. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  6. Ability to obtain a TWIC and MMC.
  7. Experience with a Point of Service (POS) system.
  8. Availability for evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts. A flexible schedule is required.
