Job summary

Boston Marriott Newton, part of Pyramid Global Hospitality, is seeking an Event Manager to represent the company to clients and supervise planning for group catering and events. This role coordinates BEOs, room setups, catering, AV, deposits, and payments to ensure smooth pre-event and event execution.

You will collaborate with Sales and hotel departments to deliver consistent, high-level service, turn over from sales to service, and look for opportunities to upsell and enhance events.

Qualifications

  • Education plus schooling in hotel/restaurant management or related major.
  • Two or more years of related experience in a high volume environment.
  • Familiarity with hospitality industry practices and Marriott Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company to customers and supervise planning for group catering and events.
  • Prepare and coordinate Banquet Event Orders (BEO), room setups, catering, AV, and billing details.
  • Coordinate with Sales and hotel departments to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases.
  • Ensure seamless turnover from sales to service and back to sales.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize revenue through up-selling and enhancements.
  • Maintain strong customer focus and address guest needs promptly.

What you will have an opportunity to do:
  • The Event Manager is responsible for representing the company to customers and supervises the coordination and planning for assigned group catering and events.
  • Perform and supervise preparation for group catering and events including completion of Banquet Event Order (BEO), meeting room set up specifications, banquet food and beverage, audio visual, program details, attrition, deposits, billing details and collection of payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, hotel departments and customer to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout the pre-event, event and post-event phases of hotel events.
  • Ensure seamless turnover from sales to service and then back to sales.
  • Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up‑selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.
  • Has knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Skilled originality and has the ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about products, services or situations or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
  • Practices being adaptable and have the ability to effectively adjust to major changes in work tasks or the work environment.
  • Possess a strong customer focus to develop and sustain productive customer relationships; actively seeks information to understand and address customer needs.
  • Ensure maintenance problems are promptly reported to Engineering through proper channels.
  • Order supplies and maintain accurate inventory as assigned.
  • Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction.

Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000
