Job summary

Monarch Recreation Center seeks an Event Host to create a welcoming, customer-focused environment for birthday parties, celebrations, and rental events. You will prepare spaces, assist with event flow, engage guests, and ensure a clean, organized experience before, during, and after events.

Responsibilities include setting up rooms, coordinating with parents and renters, assisting with food service and activities, and maintaining safety and facility standards throughout high-energy events.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
  • Preferred: Customer service or event experience; Event Planning or Facility Management Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes guests and participants; provides event support and answers questions throughout the event.
  • Supports birthday parties and hosted events including food service, activities, and transitions.
  • Monitors spaces to ensure safety, organization, and adherence to facility guidelines.
  • Sets up rooms and spaces per reservations, programs, or event needs before use.
  • Cleans and resets rooms after parties and prepares spaces for the next event.
  • Follows instructions, attends trainings, and maintains center professionalism.
  • Remains accessible via cell phone for job-related issues or emergencies.
  • Provides backup support to programs or recreation areas as assigned.

Job Summary

The Event Host supports birthday parties, celebrations, and rental events at the Monarch Recreation Center by creating a welcoming, customer focused environment. This position prepares event spaces, assists with event flow, engages guests, and ensures a clean and organized experience before, during, and after events. The Event Host plays an essential role in delivering memorable experiences for children, families and attendees while upholding facility standards and customer service expectations.

Essential Job Functions and Other Important Duties:
  • Welcomes guests, renters, and program participants; provides event support, answers questions, and assists with facility or reservation needs throughout the event.
  • Supports birthday parties and other hosted events, including food service, activities, transitions, supplies, and communication with parents, guardians, renters, or event contacts.
  • Monitors assigned event and rental spaces to support a safe, organized, and positive guest experience and ensure facility guidelines are followed.
  • Sets up rooms and event spaces based on reservations, programs, or event needs, including tables, chairs, decorations, supplies, equipment, and other requested items; ensures spaces are ready prior to scheduled use.
  • Assists with food service, activity transitions, and communication with parents/guardians; maintains safety and organization during activities.
  • Cleans and resets rooms after parties, including disinfecting surfaces, removing trash, organizing supplies, and preparing spaces for the next event.
  • Provides backup support to programs or other recreation areas as assigned.
  • Follows written and oral instructions, attends required trainings or meetings, and upholds recreation center professionalism.
  • Remains accessible via cell phone to address job-related issues or emergencies using City applications.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Job Qualifications

Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Relatable Work Experience: None required.

Training, Licenses, and Certifications: CPR, AED, and First Aid, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications: Customer service or event experience. Event Planning or Facility Management Certification.

Disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Ability to move furniture and equipment for room setup and teardown.

Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.
