Job summary

Crimson Wine Group seeks an experienced Events Business Development professional in California to drive revenue through corporate events, private celebrations, and luxury tastings. You will build relationships with DMCs, tour operators, and agencies, manage a robust pipeline, and lead onsite event execution with a focus on guest experience and safety.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in events/hospitality, strong communication, wine knowledge, and a track record of meeting revenue goals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in special events, hospitality, sales, or a related guest-facing role.
  • Ability to prospect, build relationships, and support revenue goals.
  • Independent work style with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills across in-person, phone, and email.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine tasting practices; luxury brand experience a plus.
  • CRM, POS and ERP systems proficiency; Excel, Teams and Outlook familiarity.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an event business development strategy to reach revenue and estate goals.
  • Prospect and secure new business across corporate events, private celebrations, and luxury experiences.
  • Build referral relationships with DMCs, associations, tour operators, and agencies.
  • Manage sales pipeline, leads, forecast reporting, and follow-up communications.
  • Represent the winery at offsite marketing and networking events.
  • Plan and execute winery events with setup, service standards, and staff direction.
  • Coordinate caterers, vendors, staffing, and event logistics.
  • Process deposits, create planning folders, and communicate with clients and internal teams.
  • Conduct venue site visits and address client needs and questions.
  • Lead during events and supervise onsite in management's absence.
  • Perform post-event analysis, monthly reporting, and client follow-up.
  • Ensure safety and compliant alcohol service, health, and parking logistics.
  • Provide tasting room coverage and guest experiences; support wine club retention.
  • Train on-call servers and maintain service and safety standards.
  • Monitor inventory for event wares and keep equipment/ supplies stored securely.

Job description


  • Develop and execute an event business development strategy to achieve annual revenue, wine sales, profitability, and estate utilization goals

  • Prospect, solicit, and secure new business across corporate events, incentive travel, executive retreats, private celebrations, luxury hospitality experiences, virtual tastings, and incremental sales programs

  • Build and maintain referral relationships with DMCs, winery associations, tour operators, hotel concierge teams, corporate planners, event agencies, community partners, vendors, and suppliers

  • Manage a qualified sales pipeline, including lead generation, prospecting activity, referral productivity, conversion metrics, and forecast reporting

  • Represent the winery at offsite marketing, community engagement, and networking events

  • Plan and execute winery events, including setup, breakdown, service standards, staff direction, responsible service, and client communication

  • Coordinate caterers and vendors and coordinate staffing for each event

  • Process deposits, create event planning folders, and manage communications with clients, attendees, and internal departments

  • Conduct venue site visits and address client needs and questions

  • Act as lead during events and onsite supervisor in the absence of Management

  • Conduct post-event analysis, monthly reporting, and client follow-up communications

  • Ensure public safety through responsible alcohol service, health and safety compliance, parking and traffic direction, and proper closing procedures

  • Provide tasting room coverage, concierge support, guest experiences, wine club membership retention, glassware care, and other hospitality duties

  • Train on-call servers and model service and safety standards

  • Monitor inventory and ordering for event wares, rentals, and supplies

  • Maintain onsite event equipment and supplies

  • Secure winery buildings, grounds, and gates after guest and vendor departure

  • Assist with other projects and uphold Crimson Wine Group policies and procedures


Requirements


  • 2+ years’ experience in special events, hospitality, sales, or a related guest-facing role

  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build relationships, and support revenue goals

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and follow-through

  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills across in-person, phone, and email interactions

  • Ability to handle guest concerns professionally and identify effective resolutions

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to represent and sell a luxury brand with professionalism and confidence

  • Knowledge of wine and wine tasting practices

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence; luxury brand experience a plus

  • Working knowledge of CRM, POS, and ERP systems; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook

  • Ability to learn new systems quickly

  • Must work a flexible schedule as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • RBS and Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

  • Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk across concrete, stone, vineyard terrain, decomposed granite, uneven surfaces, and lawn areas

  • Ability to work in varied environments with fluctuating temperatures, including outdoor spaces, indoor hospitality areas, caves, production facilities, and vineyards

  • Ability to bend, reach, and safely set up or remove event equipment
