Job summary

Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital is seeking an Environmental Service Technician for full-time evening shifts in Springfield, OH. The role covers cleaning, stocking, and maintaining housekeeping duties across the Center, reporting to nursing leadership.

Responsibilities include cleaning rooms and common areas, handling waste and supplies, floor care, and assisting with meals and setup for meetings or events. Some physical tasks and attention to patient property are required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of medical supplies.
• Minimum 2 years experience in health care facility.
• Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language.
• Intermittent physical mobility including walking, standing, light lifting and pushing/pulling of carts; must bend and kneel.
• Ability to organize work and follow through on own initiative.
• Basic computer skills; ability to learn inventory system software.
• Familiarity with EDI processes for purchasing supplies.
• Experience preferred in maintenance.
• Good organizational, verbal, interpersonal, and customer relation skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, locker rooms, and other areas to meet health standards.
• Vacuum carpets and upholstery; shampoo as needed.
• Empty wastebaskets and transport waste to disposal areas.
• Sweep, scrub, wash, and polish floors with appropriate equipment.
• Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
• Keep storage areas and carts stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Polish silver accessories and metal fixtures.
• Replace light bulbs and replenish supplies.
• Move and arrange furniture; assist with meal service per guidelines.
• Observe precautions to protect patient property and report issues.
