Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers is seeking a Residential Counselor for Harrington House in Dorchester. The role supports children aged 8–15 in transition, providing a safe, structured home-like environment and coordinating school and community activities.

The position offers clinical and health services, milieu therapy, case management, and opportunities for growth within a supervised team. Evening/night shifts, CORI check, and a valid ID are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with youth in similar environment preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, supportive environment for children.
• Coordinate with other counselors from previous shifts to ensure continuity of information.
• Maintain daily activity logs and coordinate routines with the team.
• Under the direction of the Residential Supervisor, support youth in a structured setting.
• Assist with verbal de-escalation and, when needed, safe physical intervention following approved protocols.
