Job summary

East Oakland Community Project in Oakland, CA is seeking a Youth Advisor for the 4:00pm to 8:00pm shift to help keep youth safe and supported, handling emergencies and completing required logs.

You will assist residents with daily living tasks, supervise meals and chores, distribute mail, monitor health needs, and uphold program rules. Strong communication, independence and leadership are essential; the role is part-time and on-site at Our House.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience assisting homeless or low income young adults and working in a supportive housing setting.

Responsibilities

• Assisting residents with basic house cleaning and maintenance activities.
• Facilitating and monitoring menu planning and meal preparation daily.
• Updating chore list and monitor residents' daily, weekly and monthly chores.
• Ensure that residents have access to their incoming mail by distributing mail daily.
• Promote good health, in case of illness and ensure that residents receive the proper medical attention.
• Collect payments monthly for program fee requirements and money management.
• Maintain an accurate account of house activities by maintaining a current log book.
• Promote and maintain a clean work environment and ensure that office area and equipment cleaned daily.
• Ensure that the house is cleaned by 8:00 pm by monitoring chores activities.
• Modeling a pleasant and professional demeanor when interacting with residents and staff.
• Initiating conflict resolution intervention techniques to handle conflicts between residents as needed.
