Qualifications

• High School or GED Diploma
• Minimum of 1 year experience in acute care facility or related environment preferred, but not necessary.
• Willingness to be cross-trained in other areas (Admitting, Business Office, ER)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented and organizational skills required.
• Medical Terminology
• Basic Computer Knowledge
• Filing Skills
• Typing Skills
• Familiarity with HMO/PPO contracts beneficial
• AHA Healthcare provider BLS

Responsibilities

• Greeting, collecting and processing all incoming patient information to gather demographic requirements in accordance with regulations and hospital policies.
• Provide care for patients, procure reimbursement verification from third parties, and maintain records appropriately.
• Recognize signs of stroke and call a stroke alert; verbalize stroke alert process; assign temporary patient identification (ED only); complete full registration upon patient arrival to the ED.
• Cross-training and floating to other areas or departments as needed.
