Job summary

The California State University’s Stanislaus campus in Turlock is seeking a Library Student Assistant for late nights and weekend shifts under the Federal Work Study program. You will assist at the Circulation Desk, shelve materials, and support library services to students and staff.

This position offers an opportunity to develop customer service, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills in a student-centered library environment.

Qualifications

• Undergrad students must be enrolled in at least six Fall/Spring units.
• Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be enrolled in a minimum of four Fall/Spring units.
• Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.

Responsibilities

• Assist users at the Circulation Desk, in the book stacks, and in study areas.
• Answer directional and library service-related questions.
• Refer questions to librarians or staff when appropriate.
• Assist library staff in monitoring and reporting issues throughout the library.
• Retrieve returned materials from indoor and outdoor book drops.
• Shelve all types of library materials.
• Perform shelf-reading functions.
• Use the computerized library system to check materials in and out.
• Assist with opening and closing of library.
• Some outreach tabling activities may be requested on occasion.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
