Penn State Harrisburg’s Madlyn L. Hanes Library is seeking a part-time Access Services Assistant to provide evening and weekend service to students, faculty, staff, and residents of Pennsylvania.

The role offers a starting wage of $15.00 per hour and a 21-hour weekly schedule during the academic year. The position involves frontline customer service, circulation of materials, and collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills and respectful collaboration.
• Able to follow directions and maintain a schedule.
• Experience in customer service, library, retail, or hospitality preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline customer service in person and by phone.
• Circulate library materials and technology; assist with reservations.
• Explain library policies and procedures to patrons.
• Open and close the library; manage undergraduate student assistants.
• Assist with collecting unit statistics and inventorying collections.
• Respond to gate and panel alarms per procedures; assist emergencies.
• Support special projects and cross-department collaborations.
