RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Per Diem Unit Secretary for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center on the Evening shift. The role supports the nursing team by handling admissions, calls, and patient data entry in the electronic medical record, ensuring smooth unit operations.

As the central point of communication for the nursing unit, you will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate information flow and high-quality patient care.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent with clerical, administrative, or customer service experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills are essential.
• Prior experience as Unit Clerk/Unit Secretary or in hospital/medical office setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR, and healthcare documentation is preferred.

• Greet patients, families, visitors, and physicians with excellent customer service.
• Answer phones, call bells, and intercoms; direct requests to the right team.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges; maintain accurate patient information.
• Enter physician orders and update patient records in EMR systems.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain unit reports and documentation.
• Support daily nursing station operations by organizing supplies and work space.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to promote efficient workflows.
