RWJBarnabas Health is hiring a Unit Secretary for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. The role supports the nursing team, serves as the central communications hub, and ensures patient information flows accurately.

The position is per diem with an evening shift, requiring strong customer service and clerical skills. Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling calls, coordinating admissions/discharges, entering orders in the EMR, and maintaining unit documentation.

Competenze

High school diploma or equivalent and clerical/administrative experience.
Strong communication, organizational, multitasking and computer skills required.
Experience as Unit Clerk/Secretary or in hospital setting preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR, physician order entry and healthcare documentation preferred.

Mansioni

Greet patients and families, provide exceptional customer service.
Answer phones, call bells, and direct requests to team members.
Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges with accurate records.
Enter physician orders and update patient records in the EMR.
Prepare and maintain reports and unit documentation.
Support nursing station operations and maintain supplies.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses and the healthcare team to ensure efficient workflows.
