Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown seeks a part-time Unit Clerk for 7NE Orthopedics to support admissions, scheduling, and patient flow in the evening shifts.

The role greets patients, completes admitting information in EPIC, coordinates bed assignment and transfers, and dispatches support staff while maintaining accurate records. A High School Diploma is required; Medical Assistant or secretarial training is preferred. 16 hours per week, rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or secretarial school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and admitting patients on arrival.
• Courteously greet patients and complete admitting information in the computer.
• Locate and assign beds and notify referring physicians as requested.
• Communicate transfer information promptly when patients move within the hospital.
• Complete transfer functions in the computer when transferring patients to different units.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and arrange patient transportation as needed.
