Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a Transport Supervisor for the Evening Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM). This role oversees the Distribution Services staff, dispatches transport requests, and ensures compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and at least 1 year experience in a patient setting/hospital facility, or 3 years without a degree.
• Knowledge of patient throughput and transport practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 3+ years in a large hospital facility (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Dispatch patient and equipment transport requests for all departments.
• Supervise and counsel Distribution Services staff.
• Create staff schedules and process timesheets.
• Track equipment repairs using MS Excel and verify ticket completion.
• Maintain MS Access database for patient belongings and service issues.
• Issue staff uniforms and manage inventory.
• Develop department policies for safe patient transport and recycling.
• Run capacity management reports and export to Excel for management review.
• Provide staff education and supervision on ongoing retraining.
