Job summary

Sharp HealthCare in San Diego is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide patient care duties and unit support in the operating room suite. The role requires OR experience or recent graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program, plus American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities include assisting with room setup, instrument handling, and adherence to safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as an operating room or surgical technician in a hospital or ambulatory setting within the last 12 months; or graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program within the last 12 months.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Updates surgeon preference card per entity specific processes.
• Ensures instrument trays match the instrument list; elevates if incomplete.
• Cares for and handles surgical instruments and equipment, and assists with room prep and case setup.
• Maintains adherence to safety goals, sterile technique, and infection prevention standards.
• Mentors new employees and supports department objectives.
