Job summary

Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support decontamination and sterile processing in the OR and related areas. The role requires ensuring instrumentation and supplies are complete and ready for procedures, with collaboration across departments.

Ideal candidates have CRCST and/or CSPDT certification and at least one year of SPD experience, with strong communication and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or CRCST/CSPDT certification with less than 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide decontamination and sterile processing support for PeriOp Services, ED, ICU and other departments.
• Handle decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization and storage of surgical instruments.
• Identify and interpret surgical schedules and terminology relevant to instruments and supplies.
• Track instruments and report shortages or replacements to maintain readiness.
• Operate sterilization equipment and QA testing devices according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment following PPE and infection control protocols.
