Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I to join the OR support team. This full-time evening shift provides decontamination, sterilization, and instrument packaging to ensure readiness for procedures.

You'll handle instrument tracking, quality assurance, and collaborate with OR staff. Requires high school diploma or equivalent; one year SPD experience or CSPDT/CRCST certification; strong mechanical aptitude and communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1 year of Sterile Processing experience or CSPDT/CRCST certification with less than one year of experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide decontamination and sterile processing support for PeriOp Services, ED, ICU, and hospital departments.
• Perform decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization with established procedures and IFUs; maintain logs and QA records.
• Identify instrument ownership and track instruments via paper log or computer system; report instrument replacements to ensure readiness.
• Operate sterilization equipment including steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, instrument washers and high-level disinfectors.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment following PPE and infection control protocols.
