Job summary

Dowding Industries Inc. in Eaton Rapids, MI is seeking a stamping press operator with experience to set up and run progressive stamping presses to meet customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, safety adherence, and the ability to work on an off shift (6:30 pm–5 am, Sun–Wed).

The position involves maintaining equipment, performing basic maintenance, completing paperwork, and ensuring quality while meeting production timelines in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints, control plans, and work instructions.
• At least one year of experience as a press operator.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic math including fractions, percentages, and units of measure.
• Solid understanding of shop safety.
• Set up/operation of progressive stamping presses.
• Able to work without immediate supervision.
• Strong time management and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving parts.
• Adherence to safety and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate progressive stamping presses to produce parts per customer specifications.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Complete production paperwork and quality checks.
• Produce high-quality parts using control plans and work instructions.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures.
• Participate in training to update job knowledge.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment and report complex repairs.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Perform equipment setup and minor maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, adjustments).
• Inspect, package, and document finished orders.
• Monitor presses to meet product specs and timelines.
• Record run logs and report any mechanical issues or waste metrics.
• Assume additional responsibilities as needed.
