Job summary

Methuen Public Schools is seeking a Building Custodian for a split shift from 11:00am to 7:00pm. The role starts December 2026 and requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus the ability to perform diverse custodial tasks across facilities.

Responsibilities include cleaning, floor care, window washing, minor repairs, and operating basic building systems. This position supports a safe, clean educational environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; perform custodial tasks including cleaning and floor care.
• Operate basic building systems and maintain equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and plumbing supply needs; able to order custodial supplies.
• Split shift availability: 11:00am–7:00pm; 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties such as cleaning, dusting, sweeping, washing, buffing and waxing floors, washing windows and changing light bulbs.
• Polish floors, care for equipment, and operate low pressure heating/ventilating systems.
• Polish grounds, sweep walkways, and assist with snow and ice removal as needed.
• Assist with ordering supplies and maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
