Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Specimen Processor for the BioCenter, evenings 8:00 PM–4:30 AM, Mon-Fri with rotating weekends/holidays and on-call. Training will occur on the morning shift (6:00 AM or 7:00 AM) for 3–4 weeks, then transition to permanent night shift.

The role processes laboratory samples, verifies information in LIS, and ensures correct routing of specimens. Strong lab acumen is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year clinical/hospital lab experience or MLT certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and stand/walk continually.

Responsibilities

• Label and process specimens accurately and distribute to the correct department.
• Enter specimen information into LIS and verify orders and requirements.
• Centrifuge, aliquot, and maintain specimen integrity per protocol.
• Maintain patient identification and confidentiality in all activities.
