Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 6 months clinical laboratory experience with biological specimens.
• Phlebotomy program preferred.
• 1+ year specimen collection/processing preferred.
• DOT and IATA certifications within 180 days if required.

Responsibilities

• Release orders from HIS and print specimen labels.
• Ensure proper container types, centrifugation, specimen sterility and transport.
• Ensure positive patient identification and correct specimen handling.
• Perform specimen processing duties including aliquoting urine and body fluids and inventory monitoring.
• In Microbiology, handle specimens using sterile techniques and prepare for culture media.
• Assist in pathology specimen preservation and communicate with residents/providers as needed.
• Answer inquiries and provide customer service to internal and external customers.
• Assist with training new hires and students when applicable.
• Dispose of bio-hazardous materials and follow PPE and safety protocols.
