Job summary

Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital in Riverton, Utah seeks an on-site medical interpreter to provide accurate oral and written interpretation across facilities and virtual services, ensuring confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.

The role is part-time (30 hours/week) with Monday–Friday 5PM–11:30PM shift and a 10% evening differential; you will maintain records, use EPIC, translate written materials, and uphold HIPAA and civil rights compliance.

Qualifications

• Excellent command of source and target languages with ILR Level 3 or Professional Proficiency.
• Proficiency in consecutive, simultaneous, and sight translation.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Completion of 40-hour interpreter course.
• Pass pre-hire skills assessment.
• Healthcare interpretation experience and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Interpret medical and general information with accuracy in multiple modes for patients, families, and staff.
• Interpret complex medical information with terminology knowledge.
• Act as cultural mediator with ethical and confidential interpretation.
• Adhere to HIPAA and civil rights requirements for patient information.
• Manage time, provide ETA for interpretation, and route via phone or video as needed.
• Use computer tools for research, data entry, and record-keeping; ensure data accuracy.
• Translate written material, preserving meaning and localization.
