Job summary

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete a pre-hire skills assessment.
• Excellent oral and written command of the target language with healthcare terminology.
• Performs consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation with high accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Prioritize, multitask, and communicate effectively in teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate interpretation across medical and general information for patients, families, and staff.
• Demonstrate expert medical terminology knowledge and healthcare system understanding.
• Serve as a cultural mediator with unbiased interpretation in the proper context.
• Adhere to healthcare ethics, HIPAA, and applicable civil rights regulations.
• Manage time and respond to requests; coordinate interpretation via phone or video as needed.
• Utilize computer and software tools for data entry and record-keeping of interpretation events.
• Translate written material with meaning and localization preserved, in a timely manner.
