Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to oversee efficient, safe operation of the assigned area. You will ensure orders are processed and materials received per SOPs, with focus on schedules, quality, and continuous process improvement.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and experience in shipping/receiving. You will train staff, manage workloads, and coordinate with production and management to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience is required.
• 3 years of warehouse supervisory experience or more.
• 3 years of warehouse experience or more.
• Deep understanding of shipping and receiving processes and related equipment.
• Ability to read and prepare shipping/receiving records and understand production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Distribute labor evenly to process customer orders efficiently.
• Complete daily labor schedules and coordinate overtime when needed.
• Ensure material receipts and shipments meet quality specs.
• Provide guidance and support to warehouse staff to achieve goals.
• Maintain clear communication with management, peers and staff.
• Conduct start-up meetings and weekly updates for timely information sharing.
• Oversee training for new hires and ensure it is up-to-date.
• Make sound decisions on shipping/receiving issues and delegate as needed.
• Observe and evaluate warehouse processes and personnel.
• Schedule vacations and manage attendance.
• Maintain accurate records and employee files.
• Lead by example and motivate the team.
• Ensure outbound freight complies with DOT and customer requirements.
• Address employee issues and provide constructive feedback.
• Assist with special projects and cost-saving initiatives.
• Coordinate with production to meet shipping needs.
• Participate in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
