Job summary

The Cary Institute is seeking a reliable and vigilant Full-Time Security Guard for the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, Monday through Friday. The guard will be responsible for securing Institute buildings and grounds, monitoring mechanical systems, and ensuring all visitors comply with established access policies.

Responsibilities include routine checks of all Institute buildings, confirming heating and other systems are functioning, patrolling roadways, engaging visitors when necessary to ensure

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current NYS Security Guard license with 1 year of experience preferred.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Good communication and ability to interact with the public.
• Experience in parks or wildlife is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine checks of all Institute buildings to ensure property and buildings are secure.
• Confirm that heating and other mechanical systems are functioning properly.
• Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours.
• Approach and engage visitors to ensure compliance with access policies.
• Complete a detailed written security report at the end of each shift.
