Job summary

The Cary Institute is seeking a reliable Full-Time Security Guard for the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, Monday through Friday, in New York. The guard will secure buildings and grounds, monitor mechanical systems, and ensure visitors comply with access policies.

Responsibilities include routine checks, patrolling roadways, engaging visitors when needed, and producing end-of-shift security reports. NY security license with 1 year of experience preferred; driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current New York State Security Guard license with 1 year of security experience.
• Experience in state/national parks or with wildlife is a plus.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Must possess good communication skills and interact with the public effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine checks of all Institute buildings to ensure property and buildings are secure.
• Confirm heating and other mechanical systems are functioning properly.
• Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours.
• Approach and engage visitors to ensure compliance with access policies.
• Complete a detailed written security report at the end of each shift.
