Job summary

Newington Public Schools is seeking an active, highly visible evening security officer to monitor and support after-school activities at Newington High School. The role runs 3:00-9:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with potential extra hours. Compensation ranges from $17.75 to $21.50 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic state and local laws relevant to school security.
• Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with students, staff and the public.
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and safety incidents.

Responsibilities

• Assist evening school staff in maintaining order and discipline.
• Provide security for the school and school events, including the Adult Education Program.
• Conduct routine patrols of the building and grounds in the evening.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with police as needed.
• Be visible and available in the school building and property.
• Follow procedures to deter loitering and inappropriate behavior.
