Job summary

Foster Elementary School in Hingham, MA is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain clean, safe and functional facilities in support of the school’s educational mission.

The position is full-time, with hours aligned to the school schedule (2:00pm - 9:30pm in the school year; 6:00am - 2:30pm in the summer). Candidates should have a high school diploma and custodial/maintenance experience; lifting up to 50 lbs and HVAC familiarity are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; custodial/maintenance experience preferred.
• Good mechanical aptitude; heating and ventilation experience.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, interpersonal skills and sound judgment.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and use technology effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties inside and outside of the building to maintain cleanliness, sanitation, orderliness and safety.
• Notify supervisors concerning major and minor repairs.
• Accept instructions from the head custodian/supervisor verbally or in writing.
• Provide services to support curricular and extracurricular events and activities.
• Assist visiting members of the public using the facilities.
• Work on call as needed for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring, overtime or special custodial needs outside normal hours, including weekends.
