Job summary

Bowling Green City Schools is seeking a dependable Custodial Worker for Bowling Green High School on the 2nd shift, 2:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. The role covers cleaning, basic maintenance, and building safety to provide a clean, safe learning environment for students and staff.

Starting wage is $19.24 per hour, with benefits including health and other insurance options. The position requires HS diploma or GED, physical ability, and the ability to follow safety procedures; prior custodial experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to meet background checks and mandated health requirements.
• Custodial and/or building maintenance experience.
• Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
• Ability to follow written instructions, safety procedures, and product safety information.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial duties including cleaning floors, restrooms, windows, and other areas; remove trash and replenish supplies.
• Monitor building conditions and promptly report maintenance concerns, unusual conditions, and safety hazards.
• Perform minor repairs and assist with general building maintenance as assigned.
• Monitor heating, ventilation, and other building systems as directed, including boiler logs and inspections.
• Maintain safe, orderly, and accessible building areas with clear routes to exits.
• Follow safety procedures for handling custodial supplies and cleaning products.
• Respond to spills, broken glass, and other emergencies per safety guidelines.
• Assist with deliveries, inventory, storage, and movement of equipment and furnishings.
• Perform groundskeeping duties including snow removal and debris clearing.
• Help maintain building security and respond to emergencies as directed.
• Prepare facilities for scheduled activities and assist with cleanup.
