Job summary

The Sioux Falls School District is seeking an Elementary Custodian to join our team. This role supports a safe, healthy learning environment by cleaning rooms, restrooms, floors, and common areas, and assisting with set ups for activities.

Training and experience requirements are listed in the posting. Hours are Monday through Friday, 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm, full-time status, with benefits available for 20+ hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of 8 months training at the high school or 4 months high school training with minimum 1 year prior custodial experience.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds and work at high and difficult places.
• Low pressure boiler training.
• Ability to work unsupervised and maintain good attendance.
• Ability to communicate written and oral information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust, arrange furniture, empty trash, clean boards, and prepare rooms for activities.
• Perform minor repair maintenance and operate basic building systems.
• Assist in lawn, landscaping, and outdoor maintenance including snow/ice removal.
• Assist with setup and teardown for school activities.
• Operate security systems and secure the building at shift end.
• Work a revised schedule and substitute for others when needed.
• Share responsibilities for holiday, extended day, and weekend activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
