Job summary

Community Unit School District 308 is seeking a Custodian to provide students with safe, attractive, clean, and efficient places to learn and develop. The role requires performing daily cleaning tasks, reporting issues, and maintaining secure, well-lit facilities.

The position supports after-school activities and rentals, with duties including opening/closing buildings, moving furniture, and adhering to district procedures. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and a team player.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Verbal and written English communication skills.
• Courteous, confidential, and considerate demeanor.
• Team player with a strong work ethic.
• Physically able to perform cleaning, moving furniture, and operating machinery.

Responsibilities

• Keeps assigned building neat and clean.
• Reports repairs/supplies needed and any damage.
• Maintains communication with Custodial Supervisor and Operations Leadership.
• Remains on premises and wears district ID during school hours and events.
• Handles opening/closing of buildings and ensures doors/windows are secured.
• Moves furniture or equipment as required for activities.
• Complies with trash storage/disposal procedures.
• Assists in grounds cleanup and snow/ice control.
• Changes light bulbs as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
