Job summary

Spokane Public Schools seeks a dedicated custodian to maintain a safe, clean environment across district facilities. The role involves independent work with minimal supervision, following established cleaning procedures and safety rules.

Hours are 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, 8 hours daily, with an ASAP start and potential leadership responsibilities. Eligible employees receive SEBB medical/dental/vision benefits for half-time or more, plus vacation, sick, and holidays per bargaining agreements;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend operational instructions.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials and safety procedures.
• Available for contact in emergency situations and after-hours work as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Follow cleaning and sanitization procedures and safety rules to ensure a safe, sanitized site for students and staff.
• Duties may include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, moving furniture, dusting, washing fixtures, cleaning gutters, and operating cleaning equipment.
• Maintain sidewalks and exterior areas, including snow removal and de-icing.
• Assist with boiler maintenance and basic boiler operation.
• May supervise 1–2 site custodial staff, providing training and coaching on safety and cleaning methods.
