Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 or higher-education campus. The role is part-time nights, paying $13.00–$14.00 per hour. On-the-job training is provided and no high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience (preferred).
• One year of prior similar work experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles and empty as needed.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repair needs.
• Maintain effective communication with clients and staff.
• Consolidate and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish hard surfaces such as wood and stainless steel.
• Wipe tabletops, chairs and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets and equipment as needed for cleaning.
• Clean interior partition glass and windows with cleaners and squeegees.
• Sweep walks and perform seasonal tasks like raking leaves or snow removal.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and hygiene.
• Comply with safety, security, compliance and quality standards.
