Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 or higher education campus. The role runs Monday–Friday from 3pm to 11pm, with some weekends, and includes cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas.

The position requires attention to safety and quality standards; experience is not required as ABM provides on-the-job training. ABM emphasizes veteran-friendly employment and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices.
• Sweep, mop floors, remove debris, and clean spills.
• Regularly empty trash receptacles in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Maintain communication with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Handle recycling by sorting into proper receptacles.
• Dust desks, chairs, tables, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings and walls.
• Polish wood surfaces and stainless steel as needed.
• Wipe tabletops and equipment in food areas.
• Move furniture or equipment as needed for cleaning.
