Job summary

Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a Custodian MO-1 split to maintain facilities across Greenwood and Woodville locations. The role is full-time with a likely second shift from 2:30pm to 11:00pm and involves walking, lifting up to 30 pounds, and performing routine custodial tasks under general supervision.

Requirements include a high school graduate or 3 years custodial experience, knowledge of cleaning materials and methods, ability to work independently, valid CORI and fingerprinting

Qualifications

• Position is split between schools.
• High School graduate or 3 years’ custodial/maintenance experience or equivalent.
• General knowledge of cleaning materials and methods.
• Ability to perform moderately heavy manual labor.
• Ability to understand and carry out directions for routine duties.
• Ability to interact positively with staff, administration and associates.
• Good ability to work independently.
• Good character and personal habits.
• Valid CORI; Fingerprints Required.

Responsibilities

• Works under general supervision, but with work subject to inspection upon completion.
• Performs diversified maintenance and custodial duties under specific instructions and with a minimum of judgment required as to methods or procedures.
• Makes routine contacts beyond immediate associates.
• Frequent physical effort demanded in walking and standing; conditions include dirt, rain, snow.
• Flexible schedule with second shift likely 2:30pm–11:00pm.
• Requires prolonged sitting or standing and physical exertion.
• Must lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly during 4–8 hour shift.
• Sweeps, dusts, scrubs and mops rooms, corridors, washrooms and toilets.
• Washes floors, walls, windows and furniture; cleans tables and sinks.
• Polishes floors, furniture and metal work.
• Sets up tables and chairs, carries and delivers supplies and materials.
