Job summary

Mason County Schools seeks a Custodian I–IV at New Haven Elementary to maintain clean, safe school facilities during a 12:00-8:00pm shift. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, operating cleaning equipment, and assisting with setup for activities.

The role requires a high school diploma and compliance with WV Code qualifications. Position works under the supervision of the building principal and facility supervisor with 220+ days annually and pay grade

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Criminal background check per WV Code.
• Meet WV qualifications per code and state-approved competency test.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc. in the building.
• Cleans classrooms, offices, libraries, restrooms, and common areas.
• Scrubs, mops, disinfects and polishes floors; vacuuming and window washing.
• Dispose of trash and waste materials; clean doors and walls.
• Assist in moving equipment and check/replace light bulbs.
• Sweep sidewalks and clean shower rooms and gym; snow removal support.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Prepare facilities for activities and clean up afterwards.
• Shampoo carpets; inspect fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
• Lift and move up to 75 pounds; maintain supply inventories.
