Job summary

Norwich Public Schools District-Wide in Norwich, CT is seeking a 2nd Shift Custodian to ensure a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students and staff.

You will perform cleaning, snow plowing, window washing, yard work and building security while following district procedures. This full-time, union-position offers benefits and a starting wage of $24.39 per hour.

The role requires flexibility with shift timing, physical ability, and commitment to keeping school facilities well maintained.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and necessary

Responsibilities

• Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times
• Shovels, plows and sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate
• Cleans classrooms daily and dusts as needed
• Cleans corridors daily and as needed throughout the day
• Disinfects toilets and floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily
• Washes windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year
• Perform yard keeping chores such as grass cutting, tree trimming to maintain the school grounds
• Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation
• Report immediately to the building administrator and facility supervisor when there is damage
• Remain on the school premises during school hours and during non school hours when authorized
• Close the building each school day and ensure doors/windows secured, lights off, alarm on
• Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required
• Complies with laws for storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste
• Does other related work as required by the Head Custodian and Supervisors
